INSIDE THE CLASS ROOM

Creativity proved to be a powerful tool for change—and that’s exactly what we built through the CATCH LITE Creative Experience. In partnership with the 2020 Vision Plan, the City of St. Petersburg, Bon Secours. I was brought in to lead an innovative approach that placed cameras, design tools, and storytelling directly in the hands of our youth. Through photography, video, and creative engagement, students didn’t just learn—they led, expressed themselves, and found their voice in ways that truly mattered.
WHO
Kory Outlaw, a creative director and educator, was hired by The 2020 Vision Plan, in partnership with the City of St. Petersburg, Bon Secours, to lead innovation within the CATCH LITE program.
WHAT
A hands-on creative experience where students learned the importance of photography, video production, design, and media arts when applied to their business. The program built both technical skills and personal confidence through real-world creative expression.
WHY
To inspire and equip youth with tools to express themselves through business, develop leadership skills, and prepare for future opportunities in media, storytelling, and the digital arts—while fostering community connection and purpose.
WHERE
Hosted in St. Petersburg, Florida, this program took place in the local community at the SPC Midtown Campus in St.Petersburg Florida.
WHEN
This initiative launched as part of the CATCH LITE program during March 21, 2018.

In the final phase of the CATCH LITE Creative Experience, students took center stage—literally. After weeks of learning, creating, and developing their ideas, they stood confidently in front of a live audience to pitch their very own business concepts. This powerful moment captured the growth, creativity, and courage these young visionaries developed throughout the program. From branding to storytelling, each student presented with purpose, passion, and poise—proving that when you invest in youth, they rise to the occasion. This wrap-up video highlights their transformation and celebrates the impact of what happens when innovation meets opportunity.
